Visual Splendour: “Dust An Elysian Tail” Initial Impressions

Dust: An Elysian Tail Is a game that I’ve had sitting in my steam library for absolutely ages, It was one of those victims of being too damn cheap to ignore, so I bought it thinking to myself “I’ll play a bit later after doing this or that” and then I found many reasons to play other things until I had completely forgotten about it…..

…… Until Now!

I’ve quickly fallen in love with this game, just by the strength alone of its visuals, they are absolutely stunning. I’m not usually one for anime styling, but when you see this running for yourself its breath-taking.

Granted i could be letting myself in for a massive fail if the gameplay turns out to be shite, but I’m remaining optimistic! This pushes my belief that Bioshock Infinite is the best looking game of this generation, from an artistic standpoint at least. Bioshock still holds it for me, but this is a close second for sure.

I’ve just realised I’ve forgotten completely to fill you guys in on the actual gameplay, It’s a 2D platformer/action/RPG game. So It’s definitely a mish mash of genre’s, here’s hoping the mix works well otherwise I’ll be writing a retraction of this post with Several hundred Fucks! Included, but fingers crossed that doesn’t happen.

Ok to end this entirely stupid, completely ridiculous fanboying after playing 10 minutes of it, here’s some more glorious screenshots.

Thanks for reading

I really like what I deem to be ‘Walt Disney’ animated look. As I think we have discussed previously, my current game interest lies with Theme Hospital and a go Wii Super Mario Brothers.. maybe Bubble Bobble here and there too…. I love this graphic style. I think i could even so I would be impressed with a game if the look was pretty even if the game play sucked

    Fickle much?

    • djrutland says:

lol, Un-decided how about that? ๐Ÿ˜‰ The actual game part of the actual game is meant to be really good too, but still they had me at the grahpics, the rest is a bonus.

The Disney comparison is actually pretty apt when you see it in action, especially with the characters.

Good to see you though Lou its been ages, how have you been?

      • Miss Lou says:

Awesomoungus, pretty much. Relatively busy, but in a good way. How have things been with you?

      • djrutland says:

Oh I’ve been better, Started to hit the gym hard etc. Illness hasn’t helped, but im muddling through ๐Ÿ™‚ Watching Iron Man 3 right now though and am undecided if I like it or not!

      • Miss Lou says:

Ohhhh I love RDJ, so by default love anything he is in… Lol

      • djrutland says:

He’s a really good actor definitely! Although you might like him for different reasons lol ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Miss Lou says:

lol, I primarily like RDJ because of what I know about his journey. I think through media we all had the opportunity to see him at a really low point and he probably thought that he was never going to come back into the spotlight in a positive way after those experiences.

He did and as a result, I find it inspiring and awesome.

Bit of like a demonstration that no matter how bad it gets, we can work hard and make it better eh ๐Ÿ™‚

      • djrutland says:

…. I must find his story out then as I’m clueless lol

      • Miss Lou says:

Sorry to hear you have been unwell!! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

      • djrutland says:

Anxiety again ๐Ÿ˜ฆ had to go back on the meds, there helping for sure

      • Miss Lou says:

Fantastic that they are assisting ๐Ÿ™‚ Anxiety sucks barnacles!… I am sure that we discussed it previously, though did I mention the idea of a clinical psychologist?

      • djrutland says:

I’ve been to the doctors but I think I’ll have to have a nervous breakdown for them to do anything, ugh. Meds will do lol

      • Miss Lou says:

P.s: I have always found gym great not only for fitness but also anxiety – that and running (especially running). If you gym offers it, try the step class, which is like medium speed running for about an hour. Great producer of ceretonin and that relieves anxiousness ๐Ÿ™‚

      • djrutland says:

Ya going tomorrow and will try not to leave until I can barely walk that should do the trick ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Miss Lou says:

Hows your anxiety been going? I missed out on going to the gym for a while and mine flared up again *groans*
