So lately its been nearly 3 years since i was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, you’d have thought it would get so much easier with time, and yeah it does but there are times when it reminds you it’s there. You can feel on top of the world and then when you have one of those bad days it can make you feel incredibly weak and alone.
If your someone like me who has dealt with and continue to deal with anxiety problems, it only serves to make everything worse, it adds to the anxiety knowing that if you get into an anxiety attack then in the long run it makes your making your blood sugar worse.
It’s those bad days that I have been dealing with the most lately and they never get any easier, especially when you suffer from a hypo (hypoglycemia, which is low blood sugar) because it never gets any easier, that feeling of dizziness or that feeling of disconnect with reality. I guess that’s one of the reasons why ive really gotten into gaming because it helps you to “forget” that you have a life long and life changing illness, it’s the relief that it offers you even for a few hours that’s absolutely invaluable to someone like me. If you’re having a bad day, a single player game, or something particularly story driven can be a god send as it helps distract you from the mighty discomfort you might be having from anxiety or some such health issue you might suffer from.
That relief can never be understated, i have a wonderful friend who uses games for very similar reasons I do, to help distract her from the pain that her medical issues cause her. So you can never tell me that games are a childish hobby because they have so many benefits that can not be ignored.
Although i have to say that with diabetes, symptoms of hypos should never be ignored so if you feel something coming on always deal with it, then go back to the game.
It’s always useful to have something to fall back on when you’re having a bad day, so if your ever thinking that you having a shitty day, perhaps take your mind off it by playing a game or two to help keep your mind off the negatives?
Just keep those positives going 🙂
and as always i hope you found this interesting 🙂
