Frank Herbert’s Litany Against Fear

The litany against fear was written by the esteemed science fiction writer Frank Herbert for his series of the Dune books. The actual quote/passage whatever you want to call it has helped me a lot, whenever I went through a particular time where I was particularly anxious or even fearful, repeating this quietly to myself always helped to calm me down. You don’t need to be a fan to appreciate what’s been said because the sentiments expressed in the passage, I believe is universal about fear and how to over come it.

Anyway enough of my ramble 🙂 here it is:

“I must not fear.Fear is the mind-killer.Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.I will face my fear.I will permit it to pass over me and through me.And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.Where the fear has gone there will be nothing……Only I will remain”

Thanks for reading
