Final Thoughts On Crysis 3 (Single Player)

Well i have just completed the SP on crysis 3 last night and as a whole the campaign was a lot of fun to play, the bow especially was a welcome addition, as you get used to it you find that you start to use it more and more than the regular weapons on offer.

However during the hectic race through the campaigns story i just couldn’t help feeling that the ending was a bit of a let down, it just felt like an easy way to finish the story arc without giving any real solid satisfaction to the player who could very well have slogged through all three games to be sold short by the conclusion. Yes it does finish the story arc…for now. so Crytek at least deserve credit for not putting in a huge cliffhanger ending ala halo 2 (which still ranks up there as possibly one of the very worst game endings every conceived by a creative mind) but i just can’t shake the disappointment that “Prophet” and “psycho” deserved a better ending as they are great characters and plus any time you get an Englishman as one of the leads in a game you can’t go wrong 😉

So all in all i can’t help feeling a little disappointed, but at the same time I did have fun, so I would say it is a good game but the end of the SP campaign does leave a little bit of a sour taste in the mouth (at the very least it did for me) and I think perhaps more time was spent in development on the multiplayer rather than crafting the final story to perfection this so absolutely deserved.

I’m happy to report the multiplayer is still fun to play, even with gargantuan playing time put into it, it’s still a lot of fun thanks to extensive weapons customisation akin to CoD (which is probably where they got inspiration from going back to crysis 2 etc) hey, using CoD as an influence for multiplayer is not a bad thing in, its wildly popular for a reason.

Anyway to try to sum it all up it’s an enjoyable game that is absolutely beautiful to look at but stare hard enough and you can notice the metric fuck tons of make up to paper over the slightly withered exterior. If i had to score it, it would be 7-8 at most so take from that what you will 🙂

*I will probably add more to the final thoughts once I’m a bit more awake as i had a terrible nights sleep, so as a result I’m sure im forgetting other things about the game i might remember over the course of the day 🙂

Thank you for reading

I’m glad to hear that you get to use the bow regularly. Nothing disappoints me more than being given a cool weapon to use once or twice and then it gets taken away or it is such a niche weapon that opportunities to use it in game are beyond rare.

Definitely and that happens all too often but happily the crossbow is also one of the most powerful weapons too lol and plus the multiple tipped arrows etc (electrical, explosive etc) its awesome 😀
